Απ′ το κακό και τ' άδικο διωγμένο

Κι ο πάνω κόσμος να 'ναι οι τροχοί
Που σ' έχουν στα στενά κυνηγημένο

Και πήρες του καιρού τ′ αλφαβητάρι
Και της αγάπης λόγια φυλαχτό
Για να βρει πάλι ρίζα το χορτάρι
Και πήρες την ελπίδα και τη χάρη
Ψηλά να πας να χτίσεις κιβωτό
Με την ελπίδα μόνο και τη χάρη

Μα πως να μην ξεχάσεις την αυλή σου
Και την παλιά τη γνώμη καθενός
Όσους κρυφά περπάτησαν μαζί σου
Να σημαδεύουν πάλι τη ζωή σου
Και να σαι το πουλί κι ο κυνηγός

Οι συμμορίες κι οι βασανιστές

Persecuted by evil and injustice
And kicking the double life
I found you suddenly, scarred
With the underworld writing you off
And the wheels of the upper world

You took the alphabet of time
